Our own research and development center has a complete CIGS pilot line for producing thin film modules in small sizes of 30 x 30 cm². The layout of the pilot line allows to optimize individual systems and processes with high relevance to mass production. The target is to achieve even more cost effective mass production of efficient, high-quality CIGS thin film modules. The centrotherm photovoltaics CIGS technology is exclusively based on process steps which can be easily scaled up to large module sizes. Thus, the pilot line results can be transferred efficiently to the production lines at the customers' sites.
We also possess a fully-equipped analysis laboratory with various high-resolution microscopes and X-ray analysis tools. Mass screening with different process parameters can be quickly carried out by our purpose-built selenization system. The R&D center in Blaubeuren also contains a climate chamber and module strain test facility.
More than 25 engineers and technical staff – many with years of experience of CIGS - are working on the development of CIGS technology.
